Since its launch in October 2010, Instagram has gone from 200,000 users to to 30 million. Its valuation has similarly skyrocketed. Facebook bought Instagram just as the startup closed a round of funding at a $500 million valuation, which means that Instagram literally doubled its valuation within a week.
