Brooklyns Got WingsWhether you’re a Brooklyn Nets fan, a basketball fan, or neither, Deron Williams is giving us all a reason to cheer this season. With every assist the 3-time All-Star guard dishes out, he’s helping rebuild the Brooklyn community. Talk about two birds with one stone!

Deron has teamed up with Red Bull to create the Brooklyn’s Got Wings program, giving basketball courts a new facelift in the borough. As D-Will helps his team race towards the playoffs, Red Bull will donate $150 for every assist to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. When D-Will delivered his 379th assist of the season on February 10th, he reached the first donation milestone needed to fund the refurbishment of the Albert J Parhman playground, located just a mile away from the Nets’ Barclays Center. Parham will receive new backboards, rims and even a new surface.

BKGW Mobile Landing PageRed Bull has teamed up with Activ8Social to drive consumer engagement around the #BrooklynsGotWings (BKGW) community program. To drive this consumer engagement, we designed, built, and installed two authentic BKGW lockers which are located in the Nets’ Team Store in the Barclays Center and across the street from the arena at Modell’s Sporting Goods on Atlantic Ave. By visiting the mobile website www.bkgw.com, fans can play a fun game or try their hand at the locker.

Upon visiting the mobile site, fans are asked to enter their email for a chance to open the decked out BKGW locker. If the player wins, they will instantaneously receive a four-digit code to type into the locker’s keypad, and voila! Say hello to amazing merch like suite tickets to Nets games, autographed t-shirts, autographed basketballs, Swingman NBA jerseys, and Skullcandy headphones! For those who don’t grab the code that unlocks the safe in Modell’s, they will receive a 20% of coupon valid for the purchase of all items!

These full size, authentic wood locker branded with the BKGW and Nets logo, D-Will’s name and number, and #BrooklynsGotWings features a digital LED light displaying Deron’s updated assist count in the Nets Team Store. Filled with Red Bull and Nets items, a GoPro camera will capture each winner’s experience as they open the locker. #Winning!

brooklyns_got_wings_locker_redbull_activ8socialWhat’s that you say? No time to visit the Nets Team Store or Modell’s? Don’t you worry your D-Will lovin’ head. Consumers within a 75-mile radius of the Barclays Center can play the “Hit the Court Contest” for a chance to win additional prizes. Players have 9 balls to pass to their onscreen teammate, earning points for speed and accuracy of the assist. The consumer will be asked to submit his or her score after playing, the person with the highest overall score wins an autographed basketball and photo of Deron, along with a BKGW t-shirt.

As of February 28th, D-Will has already dished out 421 assists. That’s $63,150 towards refurbishing two Brooklyn community basketball courts! Not only are Red Bull, D-Will, and the Nets improving basketball in the borough, but fans are having a lot fun getting their wings along the way. What more could you ask for? Assist away Deron, assist away.

Great article…and thanks for the information. I’ll definitely visit the site now that I know about it. I wish more athletes in a position like him would do the same. With that said…Go LeBron! and Go Wizards!

Great Marketing by Deron, the Nets and Red Bull. This is a great way for them to help the local community surrounding the newly built arena. Kudos to them!
