Twitter Offers Embeddable Timeline Widgets In the last few months Twitter has dropped a few bombs on developers with new guidelines restricting what they can and cannot do with Twitter's API. Last week Twitter came out with a new feature that makes it easier for publishers to embed a timeline of tweets. The widget is both customizable and interactive.
Publishers are able to create timelines of an account's Tweets, favorites, a list, search query or hashtag and embed them on a website with one simple line of HTML code. Since the timelines are interactive, users can reply, retweet, favorite, follow accounts and Tweet directly without ever having to leave the page. Tweets are also expandable, allowing you to view photos directly in the timeline and see both retweet and favorite counts. According to a Twitter spokesperson,These new tools are built specifically for the web: they load fast, scale with your traffic as your audience grows, update in real-time, and work great in modern, legacy, and mobile browsers.Want to embed your own timeline? Oregon Pinning Female Ducks
The University of Oregon has started using Pinterst as a way to engage their female fan base. Known for their dominant #4 ranked football program, the majority of Oregon’s social media interactions have been males who can’t get enough Duck Football. This is no big surprise coming from the first school with a Social Media Command Center simply known as “The Quack Cave.” Recently they’ve been experimenting with ways to get their female audience more involved. When Mashable broke down Pinterest they discovered that 68.2% of users were women, as evident by Oregon’s “Just Ducky” board. Users have pinned wedding cakes, heels, nails and even a picture of game day eye shadow; showing creative new ways for fans to show they’re addicted to quack.
